$270k hurricane future trade as market waits for storms

A $270,000 US wind futures contract traded yesterday on the IFEX platform at the Chicago Climate Futures Exchange (CCFE).

The contract carries a $20bn first-event storm industry loss trigger and traded at a rate on line of 25.5 percent, down 0.5 percentage points from previous price levels.

The deal took total trading this year on the IFEX platform - which trades US wind industry loss warranties as event-linked futures on the CCFE - to $55.16mn.

Combined with $38.75mn hurricane derivatives...
