‘Dislocated’ market pushes ILW prices up 25%

Prices for peak US wind industry loss warranties (ILWs) have risen by 5 to 25 percent this year on high loss tolls, wind model changes and a shortage of retro capacity, according to broker JLT Re.

The broker said in a 1 June renewals report that demand for ILWs - a reinsurance derivative that pays out based on industry loss tolls from natural disasters - has been rising on the back of a "challenging" 15 months for the reinsurance sector...
