2010 hurricane season no ogre

The 2010 hurricane season was a "gentle giant" for the key US (re)insurance market, according to Jack Hayes, director of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)'s National Weather Service.

Although the season was one of the busiest on record, weather conditions prevented storms from causing serious damage to the US coast.

Warm Atlantic waters energised developing storms but warm and dry conditions in the eastern US acted as a barrier, keeping storms over open water, the NOAA said...
