Europe's loss index launch delayed

The much-anticipated launch of a comprehensive, stand-alone European windstorm loss index has been delayed until at least "the beginning of 2009" after failing to gain sufficient commitment from (re)insurers, Trading Risk can reveal.
The PERILS index - which aims to replicate the success of the US' Property Claims Services (PCS) by becoming a standard benchmark for insurance linked securities (ILS) - was due to launch this summer, according to sources close to the initiative.
