Aon Benfield forecasts strong second half on cat bond market

Japanese insurers are taking more interest in capital market reinsurance alternatives after seeing the Muteki bond pay out following the March earthquake disaster, broker Aon Benfield Securities said in its second quarter report on the ILS market.

'Any rate hardening in the Japanese market will also increase the demand for securing earthquake coverage through the capital markets, as insurers seek to lock-in rates for an extended time,' the report added.
