British Airways deal makes it a record 2011 for longevity swaps

Goldman Sachs subsidiary Rothesay Life has signed a £1.3bn longevity swap with a British Airways pension scheme in a repeat of a 2010 deal concluded by the two firms.

The BA deal is the third significant longevity swap concluded this year, making it a record year for the emerging market as annual deal volumes pass the £4bn mark.

Credit Suisse arranged a £1.7bn swap for UK TV company ITV in August and Deutsche Bank signed a £3bn deal with Rolls...
