Cat bond volume hits post-crisis low in Q2

Outstanding cat bond capacity fell to $11.5bn in Q2 2011, marking its lowest ebb since the final quarter of 2008 and the height of the financial crisis.

A mere $742mn of capacity was placed in natural catastrophe and life & health bonds in the second quarter this year, according to a report from reinsurance broker Aon Benfield today (6 July).
