Cat bonds set for strong post-loss year

ILS broker-dealers are expecting another $10bn issuance year for the cat bond market, as (re)insurance buyers seek to manage post-loss pricing adjustments.

The average forecast from leading broker-dealers for new issuance in 2018 came to $9.7bn.

Click to enlarge Willis Towers Watson projected 2018 issuance would be flat to 10 percent above volumes from last year, whilst Swiss Re and GC Securities have both estimated issuance would surpass $10bn.

Aon Securities has put the expected issuance slightly lower at $8bn-$9bn,...
