Chile quake drives non-peak ILW demand

Industry loss warranty (ILW) brokers have experienced a rise in demand for ILW cover outside of the peak zones after the magnitude 8.8 earthquake that rocked Chile on 27 February, Trading Risk understands.

Henry Kingham, executive director at Willis Re, noted "increased interest in demand for non-peak peril ILW cover" since the Chile earthquake.

Insured losses from the earthquake were estimated at up to $8bn by modelling firm Eqecat, while fellow modelling firm AIR and Chilean insurance association the AACH...
