Convergence exec Cavanagh promoted to Willis Re CEO

Willis has promoted convergence market pioneer John Cavanagh to chief executive of the broker's reinsurance arm Willis Re.

Cavanagh replaces Steve Hearn, who became chairman and CEO of Willis Global last December.

Cavanagh has been an executive vice president and managing director of Willis Re since 2009 and was most recently CEO of Willis Re Global Specialties - a role he took up in September 2011.

He joined the big three broker in 2009 from the now defunct specialty reinsurance...
