El Nino could suppress 2014 hurricane activity

Weather services company ImpactWeather forecast an El Nino weather pattern may develop by July or August, which could contribute to a more subdued hurricane season for 2014.

The forecaster has predicted the 2014 Atlantic hurricane season, which starts on 1 June, will be less active than usual.

ImpactWeather estimated there could be a total of 10 named storms, four hurricanes and one intense hurricane, which is a storm of category three or greater.
