Falling prices fueling leap in cat bonds

The steep decline in spreads helped to encourage $1.6bn in new ILS issuances among repeat sponsors in the fourth quarter of 2009.

And ILS volumes will continue to grow during the first half of 2010, as approximately $2bn of transactions come off-risk and with investors keen to support new issuances, according to a report from Aon Benfield Securities.
