First trade in eastern hurricane futures

The first eastern seaboard wind futures contract has traded on the Chicago Climate Futures Exchange (CCFE), a year after the product was first launched by IFEX.

The $8mn block trade of a first event 2010 Georgia-Maine contract with a $40bn industry loss trigger traded at a rate on line equivalent of 4.4 percent.

The traded price was 3.1 percent down from the indicative price on the contracts.

The transaction was brokered by Access Re, which also cleared the first Gulf...
