Harvey loss to ILS writers a test of market breadth

Hurricane Harvey's impact on Texas could potentially produce an underweight loss for the ILS market relative to the broader reinsurance sector.

This is largely due to the flood-driven nature of the loss, which will result in a lighter burden for national homeowners' insurers that are likely to have tapped up alternative market reinsurance.
