Fund manager AQR seeks $250mn for reinsurance team

Investment manager AQR Capital Management has confirmed that it is setting up a reinsurance investment team led by ex-Magnetar executive Andrew Sterge, as revealed by Trading Risk last month.

Sterge will be joined by London-based underwriters, Rick Montgomerie and Charlie Vaughan, who previously ran Magnetar affiliate MV Re Advisors. At that time, Sterge headed up Pulsar Re, the Bermudian reinsurer set up by hedge fund Magnetar in 2006.
