Hurricane Danielle downgraded

The second hurricane of the season, Danielle, has weakened as it moves across the Atlantic Ocean although the storm may still regain strength, according to forecasts from the US National Hurricane Center.

Danielle has been downgraded a notch to a category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale overnight. The storm was previously forecast to intensify to a major, category 3, hurricane by Thursday.

But no land warnings are in force as Danielle's path tracks northwest across the ocean.
