Irene, the first hurricane of the 2011 US wind season, has prompted trading of two issues of the Johnston Re North Carolina state wind pool cat bond notes, Trading Risk understands.

A couple of small trades in the $1mn range are understood to have closed early this week as Irene passed through the Caribbean, with forecasts putting her on track to hit the Carolina coast towards the end of the week.
