ILS investors weather volatility as premiums rise

The ILS market's risk appetite has proved "remarkably stable" amid a highly volatile year, Lane Financial partner Morton Lane wrote in a recent report.

Lane analysed the overall premium charged by the ILS market at three points this year: in February before the Japanese earthquake struck, again at August in peak hurricane season, and finally at the end of September.

His analysis drew on secondary trading prices for non-impaired cat bonds that had more than three months until maturity.
