ILW boost from messy retro renewal

Reinsurance buyers are taking more interest in capital market solutions, with the industry loss warranty sector (ILW) getting a boost from dysfunctional retro renewals, according to Guy Carpenter.

In a report on the January renewals, the broker said it expected increased interest in alternative market solutions to continue in 2012, with significant growth anticipated in the catastrophe bond and ILW segments.
