ILW prices ease after Japan spike

Industry loss warranty (ILW) prices have begun to drop back over the past few months from the elevated levels that had lasted ever since the Great Tohoku earthquake in March, according to brokers (see graph).

Swiss Re trader Patti Guatteri told Trading Risk that the drop-off simply showed that prices were normalising from spikes after the Japan earthquake.

"Pricing is flat or slightly up (about 5 percent) compared to this time last year, depending on region and peril," she said...
