Japanese aftershocks may linger for US cat bond capacity

The latest Residential Re cat bond sale currently being marketed for regular sponsor USAA is set to provide a key test of the market's capacity for US wind risk.

After strong first-quarter sales this year, brokers say new issuance is expected to be thin leading into the hurricane season, as Trading Risk has previously reported.

Sources say there is a perception that current capacity is tight as buyers and sellers stand-off over prices ahead of the key June/July renewals.
