Mega-funds: friend or foe?

When Credit Suisse announced it was bringing forward the merger of its subsidiary Clariden Leu into the parent Swiss bank, the news sent a few shockwaves through the ILS community.

It's still unclear what the merger will mean for two of the industry's top five fund managers - the Niklaus Hilti-led Credit Suisse Asset Management ILS team, which manages some $4bn through the firm's IRIS funds; and Michael Stahel's team at Clariden Leu, which oversees around $2.5bn funds under management...
