NOAA predicts ‘extremely active’ 2010 hurricane season

ILS investors will have watched with interest as the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) added to the consensus for above-average storm activity this year.

With the official passing of the start of the North Atlantic hurricane season on 1 June, NOAA predicted an "active to extremely active" six months for storms in the ocean region.

The agency said it is very likely (70 percent) that 14-23 named storms will be whipped up this year, including eight to 14...
