Perils counts EUR36.7bn QIS5 cost of Euro windstorms

European catastrophe loss aggregator Perils has released loss estimates for a one-in-200-year European windstorm event to help (re)insurers prepare for the impact of Solvency II regulations.
The firm has calculated that the industry insured loss of such a storm would be EUR36.7bn across the nine markets likely to bear most of the impact - Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
