Slow Q2 ILS issuance to drag down pricing; Aon Benfield

A combination of high volumes of cat bond maturities and a lack of anticipated new issuance in Q2 2011 will depress pricing as investor capital supply outstrips demand, Aon Benfield Securities (ABS) predicts.

$2.4bn of cat bonds are due to mature before the end of June, freeing capital for cat bond investors to redeploy, the global broker's investment banking arm noted in its ILS first quarter update released today (4 May).

But potential sponsors are expected to be more reticent...
