A handful of new cat funds made their mark on the 1 January renewal season, deploying significant capacity into the collateralised reinsurance and retro, industry loss warranty (ILW) and cat bond markets.

Bermudian vehicle Dunamis Re was one of the dark horses of the group, offering "substantial" lines on retro programmes and ILW contracts, while resolutely refusing to identify either its investors or capacity.
