Storms sparked livecat trading

Hurricane Earl's speedy journey through the Caribbean in late August/early September prompted a flurry of livecat trading, as ILS investors speculated on the storm's eventual landfall destination, Trading Risk can reveal.

And mid-September's Hurricane Karl had traders scrambling for the offering circulars to Multicat Mexico's D tranche, only to breathe a sigh of relief as it missed the trigger speeds and zone of the parametric cover on the 2009 bond.
