Trading buffeted by hurricanes

The secondary cat bond market provided high liquidity to jittery investors before Hurricane Irene struck the US, which market observers welcomed as a healthy sign as the wind season geared up.

The Swiss Re cat bond price index, which tracks market prices for US dollar-denominated bonds, fell 1.9 percent over the last week of August as Hurricane Irene swept through the Caribbean.
