US homeowners’ rates to rise but RoEs still sagging

US homeowners' insurance premiums are forecast to expand by 2 percent to $93bn in 2017, but underlying returns on equity (RoEs) from the business are still deteriorating, according to Aon Benfield.

Nationwide US homeowners' rates increased by an average of 3 percent in the 18 months to August 2017, with the highest averages of 7 percent being achieved in Texas and North Carolina, the broker said in its annual Homeowners' ROE Outlook report.
