Validus signs Goldman’s executive to AlphaCat team

Bermudian reinsurer Validus has hired ex-Goldman Sachs ILS banker J. Paschal Brooks III as an executive vice president and portfolio manager at its third-party funds manager Validus Managers.

Validus Managers oversees more than $400mn funds invested through various AlphaCat branded vehicles investing in catastrophe bonds and collateralised reinsurance and retrocession.

Its suite of products include two funds and one sidecar, which launched this year with cornerstone stakes held by Validus and hedge fund Serengeti Asset Management.
