Vega, Nelson take ILS payouts near $700mn

Two cat bond deals are set to pay out more than $40mn to their sponsors due to claims from the 2011 Japanese earthquake and 2008's Hurricane Ike.

Swiss Re has claimed $15.93mn from its Vega Capital 2010 cat bond, becoming the second security to pay out after March's Tohoku earthquake. Meanwhile, Glacier Re's Nelson Re Class G notes are set for a $26.6mn loss from Ike, which struck back in 2008.
