A rare tornado that struck southwestern Luxembourg last week is expected to cost insurers at least EUR100mn ($111mn).
Two-thirds of the 2,400 initial claims filed were related to property and the final third to vehicle claims, according to a statement from the local insurance association, the Association Des Compagnies d’Assurances.
Impact Forecasting said the F2 twister damaged more than 300 properties.
The most expensive European disaster loss this year has been Cyclone Dragi-Eberhard, which Perils has estimated will cost EUR798mn ($885mn).
