Turmoil in the Florida market during last year’s Covid-impacted June renewals led to some significant shifts in reinsurance market share, with traditional providers of last resort such as Berkshire Hathaway and DE Shaw, as well as other expansive reinsurers, lifting their involvement.

The results are showcased in Trading Risk’s latest annual study of Florida reinsurance premium cessions, covering 10 of the state’s largest primary insurers and the premium ceded to their reinsurers in 2020.
