A prolonged spell of severe weather across Europe throughout June led to $4.5bn of insured losses, the costliest stretch of severe weather in Europe, according to Aon.

Countries including the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland and Austria were among the most-affected countries, and with the exception of Germany the nations experienced their costliest period of severe weather on record.
