Axa takes EUR400mn loss from European floods as Axa XL returns to profit

Axa has said it expects losses of EUR400mn ($475mn) from the recent European flooding, net of reinsurance, as it reported a return to H1 profit for its Axa XL business.

The carrier is the second major European insurer to report a projected loss from the disaster, at a level which implies it has triggered reinsurance coverages.
