Swiss Re estimates $42bn in H1 global insured cat losses

Swiss Re has estimated a global insured catastrophe loss of $42bn for the first half of 2021, driven by a deep winter freeze, hailstorms and wildfires and marking the second highest first-half figure behind 2011.

The six-month total for that year reached $104bn due to major earthquakes in Japan and New Zealand.
