Alternative reinsurance capital is expected to grow around 3% to reach $91bn in 2021, marking a return to growth after remaining stable at $88bn in 2020, AM Best said.

The ILS market was seeing good levels of interest, with increased cat bond issuance and recent narrowing of spreads, firm pricing discipline in collateralized reinsurance, stable capacity in the industry loss warranty (ILW) market, and slight growth in sidecars.
