Munich Re P&C re unit swings back to EUR138mn Q3 profit despite cat losses

Munich Re’s P&C re segment reported a consolidated result of EUR138mn ($148.4mm) for the third quarter, compared to a loss of EUR23mn the year before, despite losses from Bernd and Hurricane Ida.

While cat losses exerted a heavy impact on the P&C result for this latest quarter, the carrier benefited from a year-on-year increase of more than 30% in investment returns in its P&C segment.
