QBE adds A$300mn cat top layer for Australia and New Zealand

QBE boosted its top-layer catastrophe reinsurance cover for 2022, including the purchase of a new A$300mn cat top layer for Australia and New Zealand, but had to increase its aggregate retention.

In its 2021 results announcement on 18 February, the firm set out changes to its global reinsurance programme.

The firm said its 2022 renewal was in line with expectations, while the cost of its core group program increased by $50mn.
