Travelers erodes 8.75% of aggregate reinsurance deductible in Q1

Travelers accumulated $175mn of qualifying losses towards the $2bn retention on its aggregate treaty in Q1 2022, the company said on its earnings call.

This means that 8.75% of the deductible has been eroded.

The carrier recorded $160mn of net retained losses in the quarter, which was down notably year-on-year from $835mn in Q1 2021 amidst that year’s Winter Storm Uri.
