Hurricane Ian wind speeds hit 155 mph with landfall likely at 14:00 ET

Hurricane Ian is now generating wind speeds of 155 mph, up by 15 mph in the past six hours and with fewer than eight hours to go until it makes landfall on the west coast of Florida.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC), in its 08:00 ET update, said Ian is currently around 55 miles from Naples, Florida, moving north-northeast at 10 mph.
