National Hurricane Center downgrades Ian to tropical storm

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has downgraded Ian to a tropical storm, as of its latest advisory note released at 05:00 ET.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to nearly 65 mph (100 km/h), with higher gusts. The NHC said some slight re-intensification could be expected and that Ian could be near hurricane strength when it approaches the coast of South Carolina...
