Karen Clark & Company (KCC) estimates that the privately insured loss from Hurricane Ian will total around $63bn, with roughly $200mn in the Caribbean and the rest from the wind, storm surge and inland flood losses in the US.

KCC previously issued a $32.5bn number in a private client advisory based on Ian's Tuesday track.

Hurricane Ian made landfall on the west coast of Florida on Wednesday, hitting Cayo Costa around 15:05 ET.
