Swiss Re’s P&C unit reported a nine-month loss of $283mn as it suffered the impact of Hurricane Ian, flooding in South Africa and Australia, hailstorms in France and other nat-cat events.

At group level, Swiss Re booked a net loss of $285mn for the nine-month period, as group return on equity (RoE) dropped to -2.1%
