David Howden has said that, within the next three to five years, the insurance industry could amass $2bn of privately funded capacity for disaster relief projects.

The Howden Group CEO noted that there was an “alarming” gap between the money needed for disaster relief and the amount available, with the shortfall now standing at $30bn.
