Guy Carpenter said that reinsurance buyers had avoided many requested coverage modifications in a stressed 1 January renewal that was “finding paths to completion” by New Year’s Eve, after reinsurers presented “fractured views” heading into the renewal.

The broker noted that there was still work to complete although many non-concurrent coverage issues have been resolved. “This is not yet a settled market,” it noted in a pre-renewal update.
