Axis estimates 90% retention in non-property 1.1 reinsurance renewals after specialty refocus

Axis Capital president and CEO Albert Benchimol today provided an update on the carrier’s specialty repositioning, saying the firm estimated it had lost less than $10mn of desired renewals due to exits from property and property cat reinsurance.

The executive also said Axis estimated a 90% retention ratio in its non-property-related renewals from January 1. It additionally achieved 12.5%
