Nat cat insured losses totalled $140bn in 2022: Gallagher Re

Natural disasters cost the industry $140bn last year, making 2022 the fifth year since 2017 in which costs for nat cats exceeded $100bn, according to Gallagher Re.

In a report published today, the intermediary said economic losses from cat events reached $360bn and called for an increase in natural hazard mitigation and climate change adaptation.
