Perils ups Cyclone Gabrielle loss estimate to NZ$1.9bn

Cyclone Gabrielle, which hit the North Island of New Zealand in February 2023, has caused an insured market loss of NZ$1.925bn ($1.2bn), according to catastrophe insurance data provider, Perils.

Initially, Perils estimated the loss to be NZ$1.54bn, which it has increased based on claims data collected from affected insurance companies.
