RenaissanceRe’s acquisition of Validus from AIG for $3bn will make the Bermudian the global fifth-largest writer of P&C reinsurance by gross premium, analysis from this publication shows.

The combination also has profound implications for RenRe’s ILS heft, as well as shifting the weighting of its portfolio more towards specialty reinsurance.
